Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a strong warning to Texas Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett after the congresswoman made a series of inflammatory remarks targeting Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Republican lawmakers. Bondi, speaking during an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, accused Crockett of inciting violence with her rhetoric, which coincided with left-wing activists targeting Tesla dealerships.
“After she made her comments about Elon Musk, she tried to walk it back by saying, ‘well, I didn’t mean violence,’ but words have consequences,” Bondi stated. “And what happened right after she said that? Three explosive devices were found in Austin, Texas—her own state. She must unequivocally denounce the violence and apologize immediately, not just to Texans, but to the entire country, to the American shareholders of Tesla, because she is actively promoting violence.”
Bondi also pointed to Crockett’s inflammatory remarks about Sen. Ted Cruz, suggesting that Congress may take action against her. “You showed the clip of what she said about Senator Cruz—there’s a real possibility that she will be censured for it,” Bondi said. “She’s using her public platform for personal gain, chasing followers and relevance while endangering lives. This is America, a free country, and yet she’s encouraging this violence.”
Crockett’s controversial statements came during a “Tesla Takedown” online event, where she declared, “All I want to see happen on my birthday is for Elon to be taken down.” Her remarks have sparked backlash amid a surge in attacks on Tesla facilities and employees. Just last week, multiple Tesla vehicles were set on fire at a service center in Las Vegas. FBI Special Agent in Charge Spencer Evans told reporters the attack bore the hallmarks of domestic terrorism, and the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is actively investigating.
Beyond her comments on Musk, Crockett also made incendiary statements about Sen. Ted Cruz during a recent interview. When asked how Democrats could win elections in Texas, she responded, “I think that you punch, I think that you punch, I think that you’re OK with punching.” She went on to say, “It’s Ted Cruz. I mean, this dude has to be knocked over the head—hard. Like, there is no niceties with him at all. You go clean off on him.”
The White House’s official “rapid response” X account condemned Crockett’s remarks, calling her “another unhinged Democrat inciting violence.” Critics argue that her words contribute to a dangerous escalation of political hostility and could inspire real-world violence.
Crockett has since attempted to clarify her statements, claiming that her calls to action were purely metaphorical and not meant to be taken literally. “I’m talking about fighting for democracy in a nonviolent way,” she insisted. However, with mounting criticism and potential congressional censure looming, her attempts at damage control may not be enough to quell the controversy.
As political tensions continue to rise, Bondi’s warning serves as a stark reminder that elected officials have a responsibility to use their platforms wisely. With the FBI actively investigating recent acts of violence linked to anti-Tesla activism, calls are growing for stronger accountability against politicians who use incendiary rhetoric. Whether Congress moves forward with censure proceedings against Crockett remains to be seen, but the backlash against her comments is far from over.
