The Democratic Party is still reeling from its crushing defeat in the recent election, but Joe Biden seems determined to reclaim the spotlight. The former president and first lady Jill Biden reportedly held a meeting with Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairman Ken Martin last month, proposing a plan to revive the party’s fundraising efforts and public image.
However, instead of enthusiasm, Biden’s proposal has been met with panic and frustration from party insiders, including former White House staff members, who blame the Bidens for the Democrats’ current state of disarray.
Democrats Turn on Biden: “They’re Living in an Alternative Universe”
According to The New York Post, a former senior White House adviser slammed the Bidens, accusing them of living in “an alternative universe that revolves only around them.”
“Their irresponsibility, family ego, and selfishness put the Democratic Party in this position in the first place,” the source said. “The Biden family—and the disconnected reality they live in—is responsible for the Trump sequel and the wilderness the Democratic Party finds itself in today.”
Another former Biden administration official was equally dismissive, telling The Post:
“Why? That is my first question. They can’t raise money either way. I think donors would be more inclined to donate if they [the Bidens] were not relevant.”
Calls for Biden to Retire: “No Voter Wants to Hear from Him”
Even Biden’s former staffers seem to have lost faith in him, with one suggesting he should retire quietly:
“Joe Biden should enjoy retirement at the beach in Rehoboth,” a former official said. “No voter wants to hear from him. He is delusional and arrogant to think that he can be a value add to the Democratic Party. We need to move on from the era of Joe Biden and embrace new, younger leadership.”
The criticism didn’t stop there. A Democratic congressional aide bluntly asked:
“Why the f**k would anyone listen to what Joe Biden has to say?”
Another congressional Democrat sarcastically suggested that Biden should offer gun control activist and DNC Vice Chair David Hogg a high-paying role at his foundation instead of trying to lead the party.
“Is this serious? I mean, it has to be a joke. This is an ‘SNL’ skit,” a former Democratic aide mocked.
Biden’s Hollywood Move: Will It Work?
Despite the backlash from Democrats, Biden is pushing forward with his post-presidency plans. He has signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), a powerhouse talent agency that also represents Barack and Michelle Obama.
CAA co-chairman Richard Lovett praised Biden’s legacy, saying:
“President Biden is one of America’s most respected and influential voices in national and global affairs. His lifelong commitment to public service is one of unity, optimism, dignity, and possibility. We are profoundly honored to partner with him again.”
However, Biden’s previous partnership with CAA didn’t generate much enthusiasm. His 2017 memoir, “Promise Me, Dad,” and subsequent “American Promise” speaking tour reportedly sold only 85,000 tickets nationwide—a disappointing turnout for a former vice president.
Concerns Over Biden’s Mental Fitness Grow
Even as Biden tries to reassert his influence in Democratic politics, concerns about his mental fitness continue to mount. Reports from as far back as four years ago suggested that Biden’s cognitive decline was noticeable to those on the 2020 campaign trail—long before he even won the presidency.
A recent Wall Street Journal investigation cited more than 50 sources who claimed Biden’s mental capacity has been in question for years and that staffers actively worked to cover up his struggles throughout his presidency.
Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy openly criticized mainstream media for shielding Biden from scrutiny, saying:
“They helped cover this up for years.”
What’s Next for the Democratic Party?
With Biden facing internal backlash, the Democratic Party appears to be at a crossroads. Many believe that new, younger leadership is necessary to rebuild trust with voters and compete against Donald Trump in 2024.
As Biden attempts a post-presidential comeback, it remains unclear whether his involvement will help or hurt the Democratic Party—but for now, party insiders seem to want him to stay far away from the political stage.
