FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino has announced a federal investigation into a series of attacks targeting Tesla vehicles, dealerships, and related swatting incidents.
The incidents, which have escalated nationwide, are being scrutinized as potential acts of domestic terrorism, particularly due to Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s involvement in cost-cutting measures that have impacted federal agencies.
Tesla Attacks Under Federal Investigation
President Donald Trump and other administration officials have strongly condemned the attacks on Tesla, calling them acts of “domestic terrorism.”
According to Axios, the Trump administration has linked these incidents to Musk’s DOGE-driven reduction of federal programs, suggesting political motives behind the violence.
“Communication and transparency are my priorities. We work for you, the American citizen. Our teams are actively working on the Tesla incidents and the swatting incidents, along with our other responsibilities to keep the Homeland safe. Thank you,” Bongino wrote in a statement.

Swatting is a dangerous form of harassment where a fake emergency call is made to send a large number of heavily armed law enforcement officers to a targeted location.
Law enforcement officials are investigating whether swatting calls targeting Tesla owners and executives are part of a broader coordinated attack against Musk and his company.
Las Vegas Tesla Collision Center Firebombed
One of the most high-profile incidents took place Tuesday at a Tesla collision center in Las Vegas, where multiple vehicles were set on fire.
According to the Las Vegas Police Department, a masked individual carrying incendiary devices approached the building, setting several Tesla vehicles ablaze.
Authorities recovered an undetonated incendiary device inside a vehicle at the scene.
The suspect also allegedly fired at least three gunshots at Tesla vehicles before fleeing.
Cybertruck Vandalism in Kansas City
The FBI, working alongside the Kansas City Missouri Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), is investigating a separate attack on Tesla’s Cybertruck lineup.
According to a Facebook post from the FBI’s Kansas City field office, multiple Cybertrucks at a Tesla dealership in southern Kansas City were severely damaged overnight.
These incidents have fueled concerns that Tesla and its infrastructure are being targeted as part of a larger anti-Musk campaign.

Authorities are also investigating the growing #TeslaTakedown movement, which has gained traction worldwide.
In Canada, security concerns prompted officials to remove a Tesla exhibit from the Vancouver International Auto Show.

Attorney General Pam Bondi Vows Federal Action
Attorney General Pam Bondi appeared on Fox News this week, emphasizing that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is committed to prosecuting those responsible for these attacks.
Fox News host Will Cain questioned Bondi about the severity of the incidents and whether federal authorities were investigating potential financial backers of the attacks.
Cain asked: “These attacks are taking place throughout our country. You’ve recently said that they are acts of domestic terrorism. Obviously, in bringing up the concept of domestic terrorism, I would think that opens up your department and the FBI into investigating who is funding these attacks. Are they organized?”
Bondi confirmed that federal authorities are actively pursuing suspects and that additional charges are forthcoming.
“We have charged multiple people. Get ready, more are coming. One we charged in Oregon is facing 5 to 20 years in prison. We filed in Colorado, we filed in South Carolina—there are more coming. And yes, the funding is one thing we are looking at, among many others. I was personally in a meeting about it this morning.”
Government Response: “We Are Coming After You”
Bondi delivered a stern warning to those involved in the attacks, stating that federal agencies are aggressively pursuing those responsible.
“We are coming after you. We believe these are organized. These are not individuals out there throughout the country doing this on their own.”
She emphasized that both Tesla dealerships and Tesla owners are being specifically targeted.
“They’re targeting Tesla owners. They’re targeting Tesla dealerships. They’re targeting Elon Musk, who is out there trying to save our country, and it will not be tolerated.”
Bondi further warned any individuals or groups providing financial support for these attacks that they, too, would be investigated and prosecuted.
“We will find you. And if you are an organized group who is funding this, we’re going to find you too. You better look out and you better stop it.”
Investigation into Organized Groups and Funding
Cain pressed Bondi further, asking whether federal agencies had discovered evidence of organization and funding behind these attacks.
“And to be clear, you said you came out of a meeting this morning. At least to some extent, you are seeing some level of organization and behind-the-scenes funding that you can investigate and potentially prosecute?”
Bondi confirmed that investigators are pursuing all leads, stating: “Yes, we’re looking at all aspects of it. These are not isolated individual events.”
